This introductory course to the Columns Work™ teaches the basic idea behind my system of resolving acute and seemingly chronic mind body symptoms. The selected information offers the simplest way to understand the emotions, doubt, and power columns and how each can help you understand and alleviate symptoms. It is an excellent resource for people who want to know more about how they can begin to think differently. The course can help people get relief through the overall understanding of mind body symptoms.
"I think the reason my flare-ups are shorter-lived now than in the past may be precisely that I'm looking at doubt in a new way: I'm onto it, so its grip isn't as tight. This tallies with what Dan says about how a symptom leads to a lot of trouble when we don't know doubt is there."

The introductory course is the next building block after the mind body basics guide and the step before either the full seminar or group membership experience.
Like anything else in my system, the information is designed to help with any mind body symptom from head to toe. Once you understand the connection between the mind and your physical symptoms, they can change quickly.
"Five years ago when I was 37 years old, I was walking around NYC with a cane because of an acute “episode” of lower back pain. One of Dr. Ratner’s gems of wisdom around embracing new ideas about my mind and body was, “It’s not a leap of faith; it’s a leap of logic.” As my back pain started to dissipate, I had even more faith in the idea - and the reality- that my other chronic ailments were psychosomatic. Over time, those problems disappeared as well. I used to be afraid of my body and the pain it could - and did- cause me. Thanks to learning about mindbody disorders, I feel more empowered and less afraid today. I can live my life more fully. I can pick up my toddler (10 million times a day). I can play with my toddler on the floor and roll around with her. And I can tell my story with the hope that it will help someone else."

"This has been an extremely worthwhile investment of my time (both the course and the meetings). One example of major change: Yard work. I enjoy yard work. I like to tend to the lawn, shrubs, etc. Every year I end up with a ton of pain and little to show, or I just hire someone. This year, I dug up 2,000 lbs. of edging, put into bags, and brought to a recycle place. Then I ordered 6 yards of mulch (3,000 lbs.) and spread it around the house. All of it done very fast. And there was ZERO! pain! Never ever could I have imagined that occurring."
